An NBN Location ID (or LOC ID) is the unique code nbn uses to identify a single premises in its network — it looks like LOC followed by a string of digits, for example LOC000123456789. If you're ordering or moving a business internet service, it's the surest way to make sure the connection lands at exactly the right address. Here's what it is, how to find yours, and how it differs from the AVC ID on your bill.

Get SIP Connect to check your addressEvery premises in the nbn network is assigned a Location ID once the area is ready for service. It's an internal pointer nbn and providers use to confirm which exact premises an order relates to, what technology serves it (FTTP, FTTC, FTTN, HFC, Fixed Wireless or Satellite), and its serviceability status. The format is the prefix LOC plus a digit block (commonly around 12 digits). It identifies the address — not your live connection (that's the AVC ID, below).
In apartments, suites and multi-tenant buildings, one street address can cover many premises — the Location ID removes any doubt about which one is yours.
It's how a provider confirms what's available and what connection type you'll get.
Quoting your Location ID up front avoids back-and-forth and address mismatches that delay a new connection.
Head to the official nbn checker (the button above opens it in a new tab) and enter your business address. It confirms availability and your technology type. Note that the public checker is built to confirm serviceability rather than to print the Location ID prominently, so for the exact LOC ID you may also need one of the steps below.
Your nbn service details are often shown on your invoice or in your provider's account portal. Many bills now show your AVC ID (your active connection) most prominently — see the comparison below — but the premises details are usually there too.
Your retail provider can look up the Location ID tied to your service address through nbn's wholesale systems. If you're switching, ask for it in writing.
Third-party point-of-interconnect / serviceability tools (such as the Aussie Broadband nbn POI lookup) can return a premises' Location ID from an address. Or simply ask us — we'll run a serviceability check for your address as part of a free review.
