Business Number Porting — Keep Your Numbers

Move to SIP Connect and keep every number. We manage the port end-to-end — landlines, 1300/1800 and mobiles — with the cutover planned.

Switching providers should not mean changing your phone numbers. With number porting, you keep the numbers your customers already know — landlines, 1300 and 1800 numbers, even mobiles — while you move to a better-value service. SIP Connect manages the whole process so the move is smooth, with no surprises along the way.

How number porting works

Porting is the process of transferring your existing numbers from your old carrier to your new one. You stay reachable on the same numbers; only the service behind them changes. We handle the paperwork and coordinate with the losing carrier on your behalf, so you are not stuck chasing two providers yourself.

The basic steps are simple:

We confirm your numbers and account details

exactly as they appear with your current provider, so the request goes through cleanly the first time.

We submit and manage the port

liaising with the existing carrier and keeping you updated.

Your numbers go live on the new service

connected to your new business VoIP, SIP trunks or phone system.

What we can port

Landline and geographic numbers

your main business lines and direct dials.

1300 and 1800 numbers

keep your inbound and toll-free presence. See our 1300 and 1800 numbers page for more.

Mobile numbers

bring business mobiles across without changing the contact your customers have saved.

Once your numbers are ported, they work with whatever you connect them to — a 3CX phone system, hosted PBX, or Microsoft Teams Direct Routing.

Avoiding downtime when you switch

A well-managed port means your phones keep ringing throughout. We schedule the cutover so your numbers are live on the new service before the old one is closed, and we confirm everything is working before we call it done. You should not see calls drop or numbers go dark during the move.

Realistic timeframes

Timeframes depend on the type of number and the losing carrier, so we will give you a clear estimate up front rather than a vague promise. Simple ports are generally quick; more complex moves can take a little longer, especially where multiple numbers or carriers are involved. We keep you informed at each stage so there are no unknowns.

Frequently asked questions

Will my numbers stop working during the port?

No. The cutover is scheduled so your numbers stay active on the existing service until they are live on the new one. Your phones keep ringing throughout the move.

Can I keep my 1300 or 1800 number?

Yes. Your inbound and toll-free numbers come across with you, so your advertising, signage and saved contacts all keep working without change.

What do you need from me to get started?
