Cisco UC560 Is Obsolete — Plan Your Replacement Now

The Cisco UC560 is end-of-life and unsupported since 2017. We move you onto 3CX, hosted PBX or Teams — numbers kept, cutover planned, real local team.

The Cisco Unified Communications 560 for Small Business (UC560) is end-of-life and no longer supported by Cisco. If your phones still run on a UC560, you are sitting on hardware that stopped receiving security patches years ago — and the smart move is to plan your replacement now, while you still have options. SIP Connect moves you off the UC560 cleanly, onto a modern system that costs less and does more.

The honest situation

The UC560 was the largest appliance in Cisco's Unified Communications 500 Series — a small-business box running Cisco IOS alongside a Cisco Unity Express voicemail module. That whole line is gone. Cisco's last day to order the UC560 (End-of-Sale) was 20 January 2014, phone and software support ended on 15 January 2015, and the product reached its Last Date of Support and became obsolete on 31 January 2017. Cisco has exited the small-business UC hardware market entirely, pointing remaining customers at the much larger Business Edition 6000 platform. Because the UC560 passed its Last Date of Support in January 2017, it no longer receives security patches or firmware updates from Cisco — and running an out-of-support box means no vendor security fixes, no warranty coverage, and growing difficulty sourcing replacement hardware. Legacy UC560 systems are still quietly running in plenty of small and medium businesses across Australia, including smaller professional offices. Your phones won't go dark overnight, but every month the risk and the cost of a forced, rushed cutover climb.

Why move with a local team

To be clear, SIP Connect does not sell Cisco UC gear — we specialise in migrating businesses off ageing systems like the UC560 and onto something built for the next decade. We're vendor-neutral, so we recommend the platform that genuinely fits how you work, not the one we're tied to. As an authorised Yealink reseller and a 3CX Partner, we can supply known-good handsets and a modern phone system end to end. And when you call, you reach a real person in Greensborough — no offshore call centre, no robots. Our team brings over 80 years of combined industry experience, and customers rate us 5.0 on Google.

Your replacement options

We move UC560-stranded businesses onto the system that actually suits them:

  • 3CX — feature-rich and cost-cutting, hosted or on-premise. Licensed by simultaneous calls rather than per extension, with free inter-office calls and free video conferencing.
  • Hosted & Cloud PBX — every enterprise calling feature, with nothing on-site to maintain, patch or replace.
  • Microsoft Teams calling — if your team already lives in Teams, Direct Routing turns it into your phone system, with no SBC for you to manage.

Cisco's own upgrade path from the UC560 is the Business Edition 6000, but many Australian SMBs now move to a cloud or hosted SIP solution instead — lower cost, nothing to maintain on-site, and no repeat of the end-of-life trap. If you'd prefer to keep a Cisco-style on-premise setup, our Cisco IP PBX page covers that path, and modern SIP trunks replace the old copper lines underneath. Not sure which fits? A migration planned to avoid downtime

We keep your existing numbers, plan the cutover around your trading hours, train your staff and switch you over cleanly — often live in days, not weeks. We handle the number porting and any 1300 or 1800 numbers so nothing drops. Coming off the UC560 is also the moment to stop overpaying: our bill reviews have identified savings of up to 65%.

One team for phones and the internet underneath

Because we also supply the connection your new system runs on — business NBN, gigabit fibre or 5G fixed wireless, with internet failover if you need it — the whole setup is tuned to work together and backed by one local team. No finger-pointing between providers when something needs a hand.

Real Connections. Real Easy. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you exactly what a clean move off the Cisco UC560 looks like — and what it saves.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Cisco UC560 still supported?

No. The UC560 reached End-of-Sale on 20 January 2014, phone and software support ended on 15 January 2015, and it hit its Last Date of Support on 31 January 2017. Since then it has received no security patches or firmware updates from Cisco, so it's well past time to plan a replacement.

What should I replace my UC560 with?

Cisco's own upgrade path is the Business Edition 6000, but most small and medium businesses get better value moving to a modern cloud platform like 3CX, a hosted PBX, or Microsoft Teams calling. We're vendor-neutral, so we'll assess how you work and recommend the option that genuinely fits — not the one we happen to sell.

Will replacing the UC560 disrupt my business?

Done properly, no. We port your existing numbers and schedule the switch so calls keep flowing, and most migrations are live in days, not weeks. Your customers won't notice a thing — except that you answer faster.

What will it cost to replace a UC560?

Usually less than you're paying now. Pricing depends on your team size and the platform that fits, so the honest way to a real number is a free bill analysis. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you the setup and the savings, with no obligation. If we can't save you money, we'll tell you straight — call 1300 747 266 to get started.
