Your iPECS eMG80 Is Discontinued — Plan the Move While You Have Choices
The Ericsson-LG iPECS eMG80 and eMG800 are discontinued. We move you onto 3CX, hosted or cloud PBX — numbers kept, cutover planned, real local people.
Ericsson-LG has discontinued the older iPECS on-premise systems — the eMG80, the eMG800 and the earlier ipLDK — so if your business still runs one of these, new licences and parts are getting harder to find every year. The good news: there's no need to panic, and no need to rush. SIP Connect is a vendor-neutral migration specialist based in Greensborough, Melbourne, and we move businesses off ageing iPECS hardware onto a modern platform that costs less and does more — cleanly, with your numbers kept.
The honest situation
Let's be straight about what end-of-life actually means here. Ericsson-LG still develops and sells the iPECS line — the current UCP series, the eMG100 and iPECS Cloud are all live, supported products. What has been withdrawn is the older on-premise hardware: the iPECS ipLDK is a legacy platform Ericsson-LG stopped supporting software licence downloads for some years ago, the iPECS eMG80 has reached end of sale and is no longer available as a new system, and the iPECS eMG800 has been discontinued. Your phones won't stop working the day you read this — but new licences, expansion cards and spare parts for these models are increasingly difficult to source, and on top of that the copper phone lines many of these systems lean on are being switched off across Australia. None of this means you must replace anything immediately; legacy iPECS systems can often still be maintained for a while by third-party support providers. It does mean the sensible play is to plan now, while you still have options, rather than scramble after a fault you can't get parts for.
Why move with a local team
To be clear, we do not sell the legacy iPECS brands — we specialise in moving businesses off ageing, discontinued systems and onto something built for the next decade. Being vendor-neutral means we recommend the platform that genuinely fits how you work, not the one we happen to be tied to. When you call, you reach a real person in Greensborough — no offshore call centre, no robots. Our team brings over 80 years of combined industry experience, customers rate us 5.0 on Google. (One thing worth a quick mention: two historical security vulnerabilities have been published for the separate iPECS NMS management software — not the phone systems themselves — so if you run that tool, make sure it's patched or locked down.)
Your migration options
We move iPECS-stranded businesses onto the system that actually suits them:
- Hosted & cloud PBX — every modern calling feature with nothing on-site to maintain, replace or run out of parts for. This is the natural successor to an on-premise eMG80 or eMG800, and Ericsson-LG's own iPECS Cloud sits in this category too.
- 3CX — feature-rich and cost-cutting, hosted or on-premise. We're a 3CX Partner, so it's a known-good fit we deploy and support directly, with free inter-office calls and video conferencing built in.
- Microsoft Teams calling — if your team already lives in Teams, Direct Routing turns it into your phone system, with no SBC for you to manage.

A migration planned to avoid downtime — and you keep your numbers
We port your existing numbers — landlines and any 1300 or 1800 numbers — plan the cutover around your trading hours, set up modern SIP trunks, train your staff and switch you over cleanly, often live in days, not weeks. Your customers won't notice a thing, except that you answer faster. Coming off iPECS is also the moment to stop overpaying: our bill reviews have identified savings of up to 65%.
One team for phones and the internet underneath
Because we also supply the connection your new system runs on — business NBN, gigabit fibre or 5G fixed wireless, with internet failover if calls can't ever drop — the whole setup is tuned to work together and backed by one local team. No finger-pointing between providers when something needs a hand.
Real Connections. Real Easy. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you exactly what a clean move off your old iPECS system looks like — and what it saves.
Frequently asked questions
Is the iPECS eMG80 really discontinued?
Yes. Ericsson-LG has withdrawn the older on-premise iPECS hardware — the eMG80 has reached end of sale, the eMG800 has been discontinued, and the earlier ipLDK is a legacy platform that lost software licence-download support some years back. The wider iPECS brand and its current models (the UCP series, eMG100 and iPECS Cloud) are still fully supported, but new eMG80 and eMG800 systems are no longer sold. Talk to us and we'll assess what you've got and give you a clear, no-pressure timeline.
Do I have to replace my iPECS system immediately?
No. There's no hard cut-off forcing an overnight swap — legacy iPECS systems can often still be kept running for a while by third-party support providers. The catch is that new licences and spare parts get harder and pricier to find over time, and copper lines are being retired across Australia. So the smart move is to plan early while you still have choices, not wait for a fault you can't get parts for.
Will moving off iPECS disrupt my business?
Done properly, no. We port your existing numbers and schedule the switch so calls keep flowing, and most migrations are live in days, not weeks. We plan it around your trading hours so there's no awkward gap where customers can't reach you.
What will it cost to replace my eMG80 or eMG800?
Usually less than you're paying now. Pricing depends on your team size and the platform that fits — so the honest way to a real number is a free bill analysis. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you the setup and the savings, with no obligation. If we can't save you money, we'll tell you straight.
