Running an LG-Nortel Aria? Plan Your Move While You Still Have Choices

Still on an LG-Nortel / LG-Ericsson Aria? It's legacy hardware. We move you onto 3CX, Teams or hosted PBX — numbers kept, cutover planned. Local Melbourne team.

If your business still runs an LG-Nortel / LG-Ericsson Aria — the Aria 24IP, 130, 300 or 600 — you're on legacy hardware that is no longer made or sold new. It still works today, but the platform is roughly 15 to 20 years old, new parts have stopped, and the copper lines many Aria systems lean on are being switched off. SIP Connect doesn't sell the old brands; we move businesses cleanly off ageing systems like the Aria and onto a modern platform that costs less and does more.

The honest situation

The Aria range traces back to LG-Nortel branding from around 2005 and predates the current Ericsson-LG iPECS line, so the platform is roughly 15 to 20 years old. It is end-of-sale legacy hardware: no longer manufactured or sold new, and superseded by Ericsson-LG's iPECS platform. Spare and replacement parts are now generally only available refurbished or secondhand, not new from the maker. We won't quote you a scary made-up "switch-off date" — there's no official dated end-of-life bulletin for the individual Aria models. What we can say plainly is that the Aria 130, 300 and 600 are built on legacy digital TDM switching with IP only bolted on via optional cards, that expanding them means adding physical plug-in cards or cabinets, and that any Aria still running over ISDN or PSTN is caught by the copper phone-line switch-off, which is retiring lines premises by premises (see our PSTN shutdown guide). Waiting doesn't save money — it just shrinks your options.

Why move with a local team

To be clear, SIP Connect does not sell LG-Nortel, LG-Ericsson or iPECS — we specialise in migrating businesses off ageing systems and onto something built for the next decade. We're vendor-neutral, so the platform we recommend is the one that genuinely fits how you work, not one we're tied to. (Where it helps, we're an authorised Yealink reseller and a 3CX Partner.) When you call, you reach a real person in Greensborough — no offshore call centre, no robots. Our team brings over 80 years of combined experience, and customers rate us 5.0 on Google.

Your migration options

We move Aria-stranded businesses onto the system that actually suits them:

  • 3CX — feature-rich and cost-cutting, hosted or on-premise. Licensed by simultaneous calls rather than per extension, with free inter-office calls and free video conferencing for up to 250 participants.
  • Hosted & cloud PBX — every enterprise calling feature, with nothing on-site to maintain or replace, and easy scaling without plug-in cards.
  • Microsoft Teams calling — if your team already lives in Teams, Direct Routing turns it into your phone system, with no SBC for you to manage.

Whichever you choose, modern SIP trunks replace the old ISDN and PSTN lines the Aria depended on. Not sure where to start? Our guide to replacing a legacy phone system in Australia lays out the path.

A migration planned to avoid downtime

We keep your existing numbers through number porting — including any 1300 or 1800 numbers — plan the cutover around your trading hours, train your staff and switch you over cleanly, often in days, not weeks. Coming off the Aria is also the moment to stop overpaying: our bill reviews have identified savings of up to 65%.

One team for phones and the internet underneath

Because we also supply the connection your new system runs on — business NBN, gigabit fibre or 5G fixed wireless, with internet failover where calls can't drop — the whole setup is tuned to work together, monitored 24/7, and backed by one local team. No finger-pointing between providers when something needs a hand.

Real Connections. Real Easy. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you exactly what a clean move off your Aria looks like — and what it saves.

Frequently asked questions

Is my LG-Nortel Aria about to stop working?

Not overnight. The Aria range is legacy, end-of-sale hardware — no longer made or sold new — but there's no official dated end-of-life for the individual models, so we won't invent one. The real pressure is parts (refurbished only now) and the copper PSTN switch-off, which is retiring lines premises by premises. The safe answer is to plan your move while you still have choices. Call us and we'll assess your system and give you a clear, no-pressure timeline.

Can I just keep buying parts for the Aria?

Only refurbished or secondhand ones — the Aria 24IP, 130, 300 and 600 are no longer manufactured, so new spares from the maker have stopped. Expanding the system also means adding physical plug-in cards or cabinets, which gets expensive and harder to source over time. Most businesses find a modern hosted platform cheaper than nursing ageing hardware along.

Will moving off the Aria disrupt my business?

Done properly, no. We port your existing numbers and schedule the switch so calls keep flowing, and most migrations are live in days, not weeks. Your customers won't notice a thing — except that you answer faster. The Aria's old ISDN or PSTN lines are simply replaced with SIP trunks during the cutover.

What will it cost to replace an LG-Nortel system?

Less than you'd expect, and usually less than you're paying now. Pricing depends on your team size and the platform that fits — so the honest way to a real number is a free bill analysis. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you the setup and the savings, with no obligation. If we can't save you money, we'll tell you straight.
