Your Old Yealink Desk Phones Are End-of-Life — Plan the Upgrade

Running older Yealink T46G or T48G desk phones? They're end-of-life. We're an authorised Yealink reseller — upgrade now and keep your numbers.

If your business is still running older Yealink desk phones — the SIP-T19P, T20P, T21P, T22P, T41P, T42G, T46G or T48G — those exact models are now listed as End-of-Life by Yealink. Yealink itself is going strong; it's only these specific handsets that have reached the end of the road. SIP Connect is an authorised Yealink reseller, so we can move you onto current, fully supported Yealink phones cleanly — keeping your numbers and your setup intact.

The honest situation

All eight of these models are officially End-of-Life on Yealink's own EoL page. Yealink stopped selling the SIP-T20P, T21P, T19P and T22P about a decade ago, and discontinued the SIP-T41P, T42G, T46G and T48G for sale on 1 April 2020. The T41P, T42G, T46G and T48G then reached their End-of-Life date on 1 April 2025, after which Yealink states support and services for these models have ended. In short: Yealink no longer develops new features or firmware for them, and they're now beyond the window where they received updates.

There's a security angle worth knowing too. An August 2025 CISA advisory (ICSA-25-219-08) confirmed vulnerabilities affecting these legacy Yealink phones. They're low-to-medium severity rather than a five-alarm emergency, but the key point is that Yealink did not release fixed firmware for the T41P, T42G, T46G or T48G — the recommended action is to keep them off the public internet, behind a firewall. Several models (including the SIP-T20P and T22P) are also no longer receiving Yealink's RPS provisioning service. None of this means a forced shutdown tomorrow, but it's a clear signal to plan a hardware refresh while you have time and choices.

Why upgrade with a local team

We're an authorised Yealink reseller and a 3CX Partner, so this is a genuine upgrade within a brand you already know — not a brand exit. We'll match each ageing handset to its known-good successor and make sure the new phones land on a platform that suits how you work. When you call, you reach a real person in Greensborough — no offshore call centre, no robots. Our team brings over 80 years of combined industry experience, and customers rate us 5.0 on Google.

Your upgrade and platform options

We pair current Yealink handsets with the phone system that actually fits your business:

  • 3CX — feature-rich and cost-cutting, hosted or on-premise, and a dependable home for current Yealink desk phones.
  • Hosted & Cloud PBX — every enterprise calling feature with nothing on-site to maintain, provisioned to your new handsets.
  • Microsoft Teams calling — if your team already lives in Teams, Direct Routing turns it into your phone system.

On the hardware side, the upgrade paths are straightforward: an entry-level T19P or T20P moves to a current T3x handset, a T21P or T22P steps up to the T33G or T34W range, a T41P or T42G suits the T43U, T44U or T53W, the T46G maps neatly to the T46U or T54W, and the T48G to the T48U or T57W. Every one of these is a currently supported Yealink model that still receives security firmware. We'll confirm the right fit before you spend a cent, and tie it all together with SIP trunks sized to your call volumes.

An upgrade planned to avoid downtime

We keep your existing numbers, plan the cutover around your trading hours, provision the new Yealink phones, train your staff and switch you over cleanly — often live in days, not weeks. Upgrading is also the moment to stop overpaying: our bill reviews have identified savings of up to 65%.

One team for phones and the internet underneath

Because we also supply the connection your phones run on — business NBN, gigabit fibre or 5G fixed wireless — the whole setup is tuned to work together and backed by one local team. No finger-pointing between providers when something needs a hand. If you'd like the wider picture first, see our legacy phone system replacement guide for Australian businesses.

Real Connections. Real Easy. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you exactly what a clean Yealink upgrade looks like — and what it saves.

Frequently asked questions

Do my old Yealink phones still work?

For now, yes — but they're officially End-of-Life, so Yealink no longer issues firmware or feature updates for them, and the T41P, T42G, T46G and T48G passed their End-of-Life date on 1 April 2025. They'll keep ringing, but you're carrying ageing, unpatched hardware. Plan now, while you still have choices and the upgrade can happen on your terms.

Which new Yealink model replaces my T46G?

The SIP-T46G maps neatly to a current Yealink T46U or T54W, both of which still receive security firmware. Other models have their own successors — the T48G to a T48U or T57W, the T41P or T42G to a T43U, T44U or T53W, and so on. As an authorised Yealink reseller, we'll confirm the exact right fit for your business before you order.

Will upgrading disrupt my business?

Done properly, no. We port and keep your existing numbers, schedule the switch so calls keep flowing, and most upgrades are live in days, not weeks. Your customers won't notice a thing — except that you answer on newer, faster handsets.

Is it worth keeping the old phones isolated instead of upgrading?

Network isolation is the right short-term mitigation Yealink and CISA recommend for the unpatched legacy models, but it's a holding pattern, not a fix — these phones won't get new security firmware. The sensible long-term move is a refresh to a currently supported Yealink range. Send us a recent bill and we'll show you the cost and the savings, with no obligation.
